Abbie Finn is a drummer from the North-East of England who has over 17 years playing experience and was named the winner of the prestigious 2023 UK Hit Like A Girl competition.
Currently based in Durham, her current projects are the Abbie Finn Trio with Harry Keeble on tenor saxophone and Paul Grainger on double bass and the Finntet featuring Graham Hardy, Harry Keeble, Dean Stockdale and Paul Grainger. She also performs as the drummer in many other ensembles and is often in the house band for artists visiting the region.
Abbie Studied at Leeds College of Music and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London. In 2020, she released her debut album Northern Perspective which received sterling reviews from British jazz blogs and magazines, and radio plays including BBC Radio Newcastle and Jazz FM. This year she released her second studio album On Pink Lane where Eddie Myer of Jazzwise Magazine had this to say about her drumming 'Her crisply, energetically accurate drumming drives each track forward with irresistible momentum.'
The Finntet will be playing a mix of Hardbop classics from the likes of Art Blakey, Clifford Brown, Nat Adderley, Hank Mobley and more, and also some original tunes by Abbie and members of the band.
